CANADIAN BISON SKIN RUGS

We carry beautiful Bison skins tanned in Canada! They make majestic rugs and bring a piece of nature's grandeur into your home. Some call it bison, others the American Buffalo. The scientific name is bison bison and it is for sure the most iconic animal which used to roam free all over North America and is definitely making a come back to healthy populations within Canada and the USA. Our skins are ethically sourced from farms that raise the bisons for the meat industry having no impact whatsoever in wild populations. Here we explain what these bison skin rugs look like and what to expect when ordering one:

1) Average size of a bison hide is around 8X7 feet. Some are smaller others bigger but overall the bison hide will be at least 7X6 feet in size. The hides are quite heavy due to their thickness and the amount of hair 2) Usually the hair on bison hides is quite thick and coarse. The hides do not shed much but need to be cleaned from time to time because dust will accumulate on it. Cleaning is easy: Bison rugs can be beat outside to get rid of excess dust and can also be vacuumed. Never wash a bison hide with water! 3) The length of bison hair will vary from hide to hide. Usually the neck area has longer hair which can also be blondish on some skins depending on the size and age of the animal. Older bulls tend to have that longer mane around their necks. 4) Many sellers will not properly trim their bison hides to give the false impression that you are getting a very large hide.
